It’s not easy being green

As confirmed earlier this year, adidas Originals is ushering a new era for the iconic Stan Smith by using sustainable materials on its releases to help end plastic waste. The brand is committed to using recycled polyester in its shoes and clothing by 2024.

These Stan Smith sneakers feature a “Primegreen” uppers that are constructed with repurposed materials along with a recycled rubber outsole underneath. To back up their commitment, adidas has also recently updated its shoe boxes so they are composed of more than 90% recycled paper.

This latest collection gets the Disney treatment with pairs featuring green-coloured characters including Kermit the Frog (the heel tabs on the Kermit shoes are, of course, emblazoned with “It’s not easy being green”), Rex from Toy Story and Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.

This footwear pack is complemented with Tees that are made using 100% organic cotton, a further testament to adidas’ ambition to end plastic waste.
