Founded by sneaker store KICKS/HI back in 2005, Saint Alfred has been the beating heart of Chicago’s evolving street-style scene for over a decade. Its Wicker Park home has become the de facto go-to destination for sneakers and streetwear in the Windy City. In 2016, Saint Alfred collaborated on an elevated iteration of the adidas Gazelle. Its clean, monochrome appearance contradicted a host of functional considerations, from water-resistant suede uppers to a GORE-TEX lining and reinforced gusset on the tongue.
Two years later, Saint Alfred brings this same attention to detail – and affinity for aesthetically pleasing functionality – to a very different adidas model, the Temper Run. First appearing in 2014 this sneaker comes to the Consortium range for the first time.
Featuring a layered construction and use of Adiprene cushioning, the sneaker nods towards the running inspiration behind the original model. Saint Alfred take this homage to the sneaker’s heritage further by championing runner details including the active-wear reflective panels, gum outsole, ballistic mesh and suede overlay uppers.
The sneaker’s understated palette takes its cues from the Chicago wilderness, with Saint Alfred even tapping artist Stephen Eichhorn to place the shoe among the floral underground in a series of promotional images.
