After ongoing rumours and sneaker leaks, adidas has finally confirmed their official partnership with Dragon Ball Z, Toei Animation’s iconic anime. Transcending the world of anime and manga, this series reached global iconic status within contemporary pop-culture.
Following the Dragon Ball Z chronology, the sneaker collaboration sees three of the most epic hero/villain battles re-imaged on foot. Featuring seven silhouettes from the Originals line, each shoe represents a character from the legendary series.
The three battles depicted in the drop are as follows: Son Goku vs. Frieza, represented by a new ZX 500 RESTOMOD and Yung-1, Son Gohan vs. Cell, in the shape of a Deerupt and Prophere and Vegeta vs. Majin Buu, brought to life through an Ultra Tech and Kamanda silhouette. With the culmination of all 7 Dragon balls, the collaboration is completed with the appearance of Shenron the Dragon, re-imagined as the EQT Support Mid ADV PK.
Each release will include two silhouettes (one hero and one villain), dropping monthly from September through until December 2018. Displayed in special Dragon Ball Z packaging, each box will join together forming one large single design- a nod to the tapestry-style images from the OG Dragon Ball magazines.
With a relentless commitment to collaboration and creativity, this project positions adidas Originals at the forefront of worldwide pop-culture, uniting classic adidas design with one of the most beloved animated series of all time.
The Good Life will be releasing the first drop of this collaboration, Goku x ZX 500 RM and Frieza x Yung 1, in-store on a first come, first served basis on Saturday September 29th 2018.
