adidas has teamed up with iconic Japanese streetwear brand, A Bathing Ape (BAPE), on a snowboarding capsule collection applying BAPE’s iconic design to a range of adidas Snowboarding silhouettes.
Originally established in 1993, BAPE has become one of the largest streetwear giants in recent history and has remained a symbol of street fashion for more than 25 years. Situated in the heart of Tokyo, BAPE strives to introduce Japanese fashion culture to the world. So far, it has produced iconic design items, original patterns and characters such as “APE HEAD”, “BAPE CAMO”, “BAPE STATM”, “SHARK HOODIE” etc.
adidas Snowboarding by BAPE Fall/Winter 2018 sees BAPE’s “LINE 1ST CAMO”, an outline variation of the original BAPE ABC camo, applied to a range of adidas Snowboarding apparel and footwear silhouettes, elevated with premium materials and Aurora reflective print details.
The collaboration’s apparel consists of the BAPE Tech Hoodie, BAPE Slopetrotter Pant and BAPE Snow Jacket – a comprehensive winter sport wardrobe. The Pants and Snow Jacket are the most heavy-duty of the capsule, offering waterproof fabrication as well as the capsule’s main Aurora reflective. The hoodie is more contemporary but certainly not lacking in that same detail as its Climalite material, durable water-repellant coating and sweat-wicking benefits that add to its overall utility. The result is a complete snowboarding wardrobe combining pinnacle adidas Snowboarding tech with a timeless BAPE aesthetic.
The apparel is complemented by an accompanying footwear release – the 3ST.002 BAPE model. Minimal in its aesthetic, the shoe opts for a refined nubuck upper and socket slip-on construction accented by “LINE 1ST CAMO” in a thermo-reactive allover print. Additional reflective branding details on the lateral quarter complete the look, pushing the minimalist aesthetic of the original 3ST.002 silhouette into a whole new space.
The Good Life will release the adidas x BAPE snowboarding collection online at 00:00 GST on Saturday November 3rd
