The Air Jordan 1 Satin editions first released in 2016 and 2017 in the "Bred" and "Royal" colourways in extremely limited quantities. The series is making its comeback in 2018 in the coveted orange/black/white "Shattered Backboard" colourway and in women extended sizing only.
The sought after Satin rendition of the Jordan 1's features the same premium leather that was originally used on the Shattered Backboard for the midfoot, toe cap, and collar. The leather on the heel, toebox, and ankle is replaced with a luxe orange satin. Jordan Brand also swapped the stitched-on swoosh for a fully embroidered variant, which completes the luxury and vintage look of this sneaker.
The Good Life will release the AJ1 Satin "Shattered Backboard". Stay tuned for further info.
Why is the colourway called Shattered Backboard?
The white, black and orange colours from the Shattered Backboard Air Jordan 1's, were inspired by an exhibition game that Nike put on in Italy back in 1985. During that game Michael Jordan went up for an infamous dunk that shattered the backboard. His jersey during the first half of the game was black and orange with white numbers, hence the "Shattered Backboard" nickname for the colourway.
